Hannah wrote this song in summer 2021, when many of her friends were getting vaccinated and the East Coast was experiencing a reawakening after the depths of COVID-19. As we learn to live in a "new normal," this song reminds us to hold out for the things that matters most like connection and time together.
lyrics
Verse 1:
Day one, everything changed
Tele-work, colleagues estranged
Zoom calls, technical snags
Our drive started to drag
Chorus:
Baby I can't wait to be by your side
Take the reins and drive
Go, no stopping us now
Honey, let’s dance, one foot at a time
Fingers intertwined
Oh, let’s savor this night
This is our moment, we will own it
Bring our city back to life
Verse 2:
No end, always in flight
Mask on, overnight
Food stores, the major attraction
Our poise began to lose traction
Verse 3:
Bonds changed, paired up or broke down
Friends moved, away from this town
Brides on hold, birthdays adjusted
Social gears, loneliness made them rusted
Chorus:
Baby I can't wait to be by your side
Take the reins and drive
Go, no stopping us now
Honey, let’s dance, one foot at a time
Fingers intertwined
Oh, let’s savor this night
This is our moment, we will own it
Bring our city back to life
Bridge:
Oooo..oooo…I can hear it coming alive
Oooo…oooo…see it lighting up the sky
Oooo…oooo…smiles returning to the faces
Oooo…oooo…savoring the embraces
Oooo…oooo…oooo…oooo [x2]
Verse 4:
Fingers crossed we weren’t infected
Best practice was to get tested
Strides made at record speed
Shots gave a sense of relief
Chorus:
Baby I can't wait to be by your side
Take the reins and drive
Go, no stopping us now
Honey, let’s dance, one foot at a time
Fingers intertwined
Oh, let’s savor this night
This is our moment, we will own it
Bring our city back to life
This is our moment, we will own it
Bring our city back to life
